Therefore, since we are justified— acquitted, declared righteous, and given right standing with God — through faith, let us grasp the fact that we have the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One.
Through Him also we have our access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace — state of God’s favor — in which we firmly and safely stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God.
Peace — C) “Shalom” in the Hebrew — safe, well, happy, prosperity, rest, favor, quietness, health and welfare;
As we are growing by faith we can enjoy all the different definitions of peace. It also means prosperity, happy and safe. If we are at rest in His love and promises, we can have all the rest. And we must remember it is through faith. If we have doubts about our position, it can wreck our peace. Our position being “In Christ” which is all about Him and not about us. We must keep our eyes on Him and His greatness and not our own weaknesses.
Glory — C) splendor, abundance, honor
As we enter this new life of grace, we can rejoice in the fact that we are allowed to enjoy His glory — His splendor — His abundance — His honor! How can it be that we could be raised to such dignity, and yet that is exactly what He does for us if we believe.
He has acquired all and does not want to keep it to Himself. As we read in verses 3 and 4, we must endure the trials that produce patient endurance and develops maturity of character. As we keep on this path we will be filled with God’s love (vs 5), and be saved from the wrath to come (vs.9).
SUBJECT — PEACE — STREAMS IN THE DESERT
There is for the heart that will cease from itself, “the peace of God that passeth all understanding,” a “quietness and confidence” which is the source of all strength. A sweet peace “which nothing can offend,” a deep rest which the world can neither give nor take away. There is in the deepest center of the soul a chamber of peace which God dwells, and if we will only enter in and hush every other sound, we can hear His still small voice.
