HE LOOKED UPON HIM AND IT TRANSFORMED HIS DOUBTS AND FEARS INTO MIGHT.

11 COR. 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the Glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

The root word for glass in the Greek is “Optanomai” which means to gaze with open eyes, an earnest inspection. As we worship and commune with the Lord, we are blessed by the intensity with which we look upon Jesus.

During our worship, we can allow our minds to wander away from Jesus and think about problems. Satan loves to steal our worship if we let him. This fixed gaze is as though we are looking through a telescope. The harder we look, the clearer He becomes. And as we fix our mind and our gaze on Jesus, more and more, we are changed into His image.

When the Angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, (Judges 6) He looked upon him and it transformed his doubts and fears into might. When Jacob wrestled with the Angel of the Lord, it changed him from Jacob to Israel and prevailed with God and men.

And so it is even better for us today. We have been given such a great access to the Father by the blood of Jesus through faith in His sacrifice. We can behold Him and be delivered from the fears that oppress and hinder our lives. As time draws nearer and nearer to His coming, He reveals Himself more and more. We have such a great privilege. There is nothing greater than looking upon His glorious Face. Now is the time to look. We all need more strength. The Almighty beautiful Creator is more than willing to supply our every need. Let us not be slow in asking. He is waiting for us to make that move.
