DEUTERONOMY 28:14
14. And you shall not go aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.
What does it mean to go after other gods and serve them in this day and age? We do not usually bow before gods of wood and stone. But we can still get off track if we are not careful.
Leviticus 26:2 You shall keep My sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary. I am the Lord.
DEFINITIONS
Reverence – to prostrate in homage to royalty or God, to Bow (self) down, do homage, worship.
Serve -d) to carry out duties for.
Homage -d) – anything given or done to show honor.
Sabbaths – d) time of rest
Sanctuary -d) a holy place, set aside for worship.
Other gods can be what we put before the Lord. It can be family, career, hobbies or even a pet. Deut. 28:14 is telling us not to go after other gods or serve them. When we put things before God, Satan demands us to serve them. When we start to obey them and do things for them, we come close to worshipping the beast.
Homage is what we do to show honor. We may not even be aware of this in our life. But Satan is aware and it is his mission to get everyone to pay homage to the beast.
When we give into certain addictive foods that is a type of serving other gods. We do not choose to eat too much sugar or salt, but the flesh gets addicted to it and causes cravings that will cause you to eat too much sugar or salt. And we know that is not good for you. It can cause high blood pressure and high blood sugar. And we can see how cigarettes and alcohol do the same thing.
If we follow the commands of the Lord He will lead us to eat what is healthy. This also goes for what we eat spiritually. When we read or watch the wrong thing like pornography it can also become addictive. That is the extreme example. It used to be soap operas that were addictive to the housewife. They could waste all day watching them. Now with cable and the internet you can easily get hooked on many shows, screens or phones.
This is paying homage to the gods of this world. The gods of food, drink and entertainment. Many are giving their lives to these gods then go to church and tell the Lord they are sorry and go back to their gods hoping the Lord will have mercy.
The Lord tells us to serve and reverence Him. That means we are to do homage to only Him. If we do not take this seriously we could end up with the worse judgment there is.
Rev. 14:8-11 is what happens when you worship the beast. What is the beast? Everyone is waiting for the Anti-Christ with a big 666 on his forehead to take his seat in a temple and say that he is God. And they would never worship him or take his mark. But what is the beast nature except man in the flesh acting like an animal doing just what his flesh commands him to do. Many already have this mark and are paying homage to the beast continually.
Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him (the beast), whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
“It used to be soap operas that were addictive to the housewife. They could waste all day watching them.” That was me 👈right there, as a young mother/wife. I was hopeless, and couldn’t get anything done. My soaps were my god that I bowed down to at 11:30am. Then, I had to run around, like crazy, after 4:00pm to try to get caught up on the whole day of chores, dinner, and bathing kids in 1 hour, before my husband came home from work. One day the Holy Spirit told me to turn that thing off, and I have never looked back. Bless God‼️

Money is one of the main things that people make altars to. May we remember that only what we do for God will last into eternity. ❤️
I always forget about money. That is one problem I have been spared. Since Gary died I have always had more than enough. So I do not have much to write about it, I guess! 💖
