REVELATION 6:14-17
14. And the sky rolled up like a scroll and vanished, and every mountain and island were dislodged from its place.
15. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16. And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17. For the great day of His wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
When the sky vanishes, we will be able to see in heaven. I believe that is when we will see the face of Him that sitteth on the throne. At the same time every mountain and island have moved and been dislodged out of there place.
Volcanoes are how mountains and islands are created. This is happening after the great earthquake in verse 12. I believe it is so great an earthquake that is at the beginning of the wrath of God and is causing the earth to be shaken out of its place. There is so much shaking that all the mountains and islands move (vs. 14).
The earth is split open in so many places. There are so many man-made caves now days that a lot of things are exposed and many see what looks like safe places underground. That is one reason why when they see the face of God they run underground. Who knows how the media will explain this one. I doubt that they think it is God who is looking at them.
We know that God put Moses in the cleft of the rock and told Him no man can see me and live. Those who do not have Jesus are not in the cleft of the rock and are running away from the face of God. So very many are running in verse 15.
They cry to the mountains to hide them. So, between Rev. Chapters 6 and 16 God causes the mountains to not be found. He is in fact removing them. The earth is doing a lot of shaking and quaking. Therefore, the earth is not a smart place to hide. There is no place that anyone can hide from God anyway. He is making that clear.
PSALM 80:19 Restore us, O Lord God of hosts, cause Your face to shine (in pleasure, approval and favor on us), and we shall be saved.
