SMILEY FACE ON SUN
This image was taken by the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly aboard the SDO spacecraft. These dark patches are coronal holes where fast solar wind gushes out into space. The triple stream solar wind could bring increased auroral activity. This also happened after a Solar Eclipse.
