3. Who shall go up into the mountain of the Lord? Who shall stand in His holy place?
4. He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted himself up to falsehood, or what is false, nor sworn deceitfully. Amp.
Stand -c) establish, abide, rest.
The main point of these two scriptures is to teach us to stand in His holy place. We want to be in His presence. Let us examine the meaning of the Hebrew word for stand.
Establish: – to make steady; settle, to order ordain or appoint.
We must be obedient to the Lord, and He will cause us to be at rest as He teaches us to follow Him in all of His ways as He establishes us and makes our way sure and settled and peaceful.
Abide: – to await, to remain, to stay; to submit to, endure, to live up to a promise.
This covers the covenant. We are to put our faith and trust in Jesus. That is our part of the covenant. Then God will keep His part. We are to wait upon Him. Not going our own way following our own understanding but submitting to Him and His leading and will. We must endure till the end all the trials we are handed always trusting in Jesus.
Rise: – to go to a higher place or position; to attain a higher level; to become stronger.
As we resist the flesh, world and the devil by the power of the Holy Spirit we can rise above all the lies of the enemy, the circumstances in our life, and our own weakness. As we focus on the good, He promises to us we can rise to a new life.
This covers most of what we need to stand. We all have our own set of overcoming trials we are given to be placed in the position in heaven that God has for us. He has a special task that has been created for us alone. No one can fill that position but us. He knows what He is doing. If we follow and trust, He will do something for us that is so beyond our highest dreams.
