This scripture is the picture of a Christian family. They sit together and have a meal. Eating together as a family. Being together, discussing their day. All is calm and peaceful. No disagreements or arguments. When you serve the Lord, all is always peaceful with never a problem. No that is just not the way it is for most of us. But eventually, it will be peaceful.
We must labor first, if we want the blessings. We serve the Lord by our obedience to Him. We must be in prayer, communion, worship and be obedient to His commands. As we obey, we will eventually see changes come about in our families and life.
One reason there is so much strife in families is because the close walk with the Lord is not there. Everyone is different. We must have a close relationship with Jesus. We need His guidance in all that we do.
Romans 12:1-2 says we are to be a living sacrifice unto God. We are not to be conformed to this world and their ways. We are to have our minds renewed. Only then will we know God’s will for our life. And then only stages will it come, His good will for us, His acceptable for us, and then His perfect will for us.
It takes us time to learn just what it is that He wants from us. Then we must spend time in prayer seeking what we need. It is a growing thing just like in school. You do not expect a 1st grader to be able to pass a 6th grade test. He does not expect more out of us until we are able to give.
But there will be a time that He knows we are able to be fruitful and our lives will show it. Our families will begin to grow, and the blessings will begin to flow.
The fear of God is reverence, a dread to offend, an anxiety to please; it involves total submission and obedience. The fear of the Lord is the fountain of holy living; we look in vain for holiness apart from it. Only those who fear the Lord will ever walk in His ways.
