PSALM 101:2-3

2. I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

3. I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me. KJV.

Perfect (way) -c) entire, integrity, truth, without blemish, complete, full, perfect, sincerely, sound, without spot, undefiled, upright, whole.

Perfect -d) complete in all respects, flawless.

Genesis 17:1 When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him, and said, I am the Almighty God; walk and live habitually before Me, and be perfect — blameless, whole-hearted, complete. Amp.

We know from the scriptures that the only perfect one who has ever lived was Jesus. He knew Abram was never going to be perfect like Jesus, until eternity. So just what is a perfect heart, in the eyes of the Lord?

When you read the definition of peace, it also means complete and perfect. A perfect heart is filled with God’s peace and will keep us walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh.

Psalm 101:2-3 is saying that David is on his guard and will behave himself wisely. He will walk in integrity and not look upon evil. The rest of Psalm 101 says he will not dwell with deceit. He is careful who he keeps company with.

2 Corinthians 6:17 So come out from unbelievers, and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not any unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor. 18. And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. Amp.

We must cut off or sever some old relationships that we had before we were saved, if they do not walk with the Lord. They will be a hindrance to you and cause you to be drawn back to the old lifestyle, that you have been set free from.

The Lord told Abram to walk and live habitually before Me and be perfect. If we live our lives with the awareness that we are in His hands, won’t we walk as perfectly as we can? And then when we have a problem, we know He is there to help us along the way.

It is possible to have a perfect heart before Him, when He is our perfector!
