REVELATION 16:15 Lo, I am going to come like a thief! Blessed — is he who stays awake (alert) and who guards his clothes so that he may not be naked and have the shame of being seen exposed! Amp.
Watcheth – c) vigilant
Vigilant – d) alert to danger or trouble
Naked – c) without protection or defense
When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, they heard the voice of The Lord God and hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God. Adam told God he was afraid because he was naked and hid himself.
That is what sin does to the relationship with God. It places a separation between God and the sinner. He is holy and will not abide sin. There are consequences to sin. I don’t think they knew the price they would pay for that one apple. This should teach us how important it is to God for us to obey His commandments.
2 Corinthians 5:2 Here indeed, in this (present abode, body), we sigh and groan inwardly, because we yearn to be clothed over — to put on our celestial body like a garment, to be fitted out — with our heavenly dwelling;
3. So that by putting it on we may not be found naked — without a body.
5. Now He who has fashioned us (preparing and making us fit) for this very thing is God, Who has given us the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of the fulfillment of His promise. Amp.
These scriptures are saying the Holy Spirit is the answer that we need. We must be clothed and filled with the Holy Spirit. Then we will have the power to live a life that is not separated from God. Then what is the scripture in Revelation 16:15 about.
When you walk with the Lord, He takes you gradually from one level to the next. It is like school. We have tests that we must pass before we can move up higher. He does expect us to mature and grow.
There are many ways to know if you are stuck in a certain level or grade. I have heard some tell how they have lived in a dry place without joy for years. This should never be the case and is not God’s will for anyone. Joy is like a signal to me. If there is no joy in my life, I know something is wrong and I talk to Him about it right away. That is one way of being vigilant.
Satan cannot mess with me when I am happy, only when I am sad or troubled. If I am at rest knowing He is working all things for my good, I should be happy. But it is not always that easy. We tend to focus on our weaknesses and circumstances instead of the power of God in our life.
He is coming like a thief. No one knows when a thief is coming. He is very quiet not wanting to be detected. He wants us to be ready. That means He wants us to be living with joy and peace. All the warnings are here in front of us. Do we take them seriously or begin to grow sleepy?
If we keep our garments, we are keeping sin out of our life. We must be alert to the danger signals. What are they? This is my Ladder to Fear and to Peace. It has always worked for me.
FEAR RULES – 2 TIMOTHY 1:7
Confusion (Greek Definition for Babylon)
Lies of the Enemy
PEACE RULES – Colossians 3:15
Rest in His Love and Promise
Praise and Worship
Truth/Word of God
Eyes on Jesus/Be Still
Focus on the Good
The Lord has spoken to me over and over when I was troubled, to look at the Ladder until it has become part of my nature. I know what He expects of me. He wants me to be ready when He comes. I do not think He would have taught me this that strictly if He were not coming soon.
We must keep our garments so that we will be protected. Naked means without protection or defense. That is where Adam and Eve stood, without God.
We must keep a watch on the garments of our spirit, making sure there is nothing that would hinder the Presence of God in our Lives. I believe one of the best ways to know His Presence is in Worship. The songs I have picked are so wonderfully anointed with the Presence of God. Please give them special attention in a room alone with just you and Him and you will be supremely blessed!
