PSALM 63:1-2 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for Thee: my flesh longeth for Thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; 2. To see Thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen Thee in the sanctuary.
Definitions
Sanctuary – c) a sacred place.
This is a Psalm of David when he was running from Saul in the wilderness. He was thinking about how good the Lord had been to him. His thoughts were not on the circumstances but on the Lord. He knew he needed a fresh touch from the presence of God. That touch that he had felt so many times before, was where his strength lied. He was so thirsty.
We were created to fear and worship the Lord. Once you have been there in the sanctuary of God, you never forget the experience. The Lord wants us to come to Him and experience all of His goodness. He allows us to taste of His glory and then go down to the dry place of hunger and thirst. This life is always a test.
David knew that his soul would be satisfied and he would praise Him with joy. But his enemies would perish.
Matthew 10:40 He who receives and welcomes and accepts you, receives and welcomes and accepts Me; and he who receives and welcomes and accepts Me, receives and welcomes and accepts Him who sent Me. Amp.
It is not only about us being rejected but when someone rejects a Christian, there are deep consequences. The Lord does not take it lightly.
Isaiah 65:11 But you who forsake the Lord, who forget and ignore My holy Mount Zion…
12. I will destine you to the sword… 13…Behold My servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; behold, My servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty; behold, My servants shall rejoice, but you shall be put to shame; 14. Behold My servants shall sing for joy of heart, but you shall cry out for pain and sorrow of heart…
And all this did come upon Saul. David was raised up to become King of Israel instead of Saul. David rejoiced and Saul was put to shame. And as we await the greatest event of all when Jesus takes His place as King of Kings and Lord of Lords and every knee shall bow before Him. What a great day that will be.
Rev. 5:13 And I heard every created thing in heaven and on earth and under the earth (in Hades, the place of departed spirits) and on sea and all that is in it, crying out together, To Him Who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing, glory, honor, and power for ever and ever, through the eternities of the eternities!
Every created being will worship the Lord! Let us make sure we are on the right side before that day comes. He will give us that living water and we will never thirst again.
