7. And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to be reversed, and I will rebuild them as they were at first.
8. And I will cleanse them from all the guilt and iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will forgive all their guilt and iniquities by which they have sinned and rebelled against Me.
9. And Jerusalem shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise and a glory before all the nations of the earth who shall hear of all the good I do for them, and they shall fear and tremble because of all the good and all the peace, prosperity, security and stability I provide for it. Amp.
Judah – c) Praise
Israel – c) he will rule
Jerusalem – c) founded peaceful; to flow as water, to teach, inform, instruct; to be safe, make completed, restore, reward.
The Lord loves His people, His set apart, chosen ones. He spends so much time telling Jeremiah of the coming judgment but that is not His heart’s desire. He delights in blessing and chooses to spend this time focusing on the future time of blessing that is to come.
Peace – c) Safe, well, happy, prosperity, rest, favor, quietness, health, and welfare.
Isaiah 32:17-19 And the effect of righteousness shall be peace (internal and external), and the result of righteousness, quietness and confident trust forever. 18. My people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, in safe dwellings and quiet resting places. 19. But (the wrath of the Lord) it shall hail… Amp.
I believe He is speaking of the distant future because physical Jerusalem has been anything but peaceful. He will pour out His favor on His bride in the end. It will be clear who belongs to the Lord and who does not. Mal. 3:18
Malachi 3:17 And they shall be Mine, says the Lord of Hosts, in that day when I publicly recognize and openly declare them to be My jewels — My special possession, My peculiar treasure. And I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him. Amp.
Think about Israel. It is a country with many cities. Judah is like the state that Jerusalem is in. Judah means praise. If you want to be a part of Jerusalem you must make praise a part of who you are.
Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. All do not dwell in Jerusalem. You can be saved and not be part of Jerusalem. But if you want to be His special treasure you must serve Him as His own Son, Jesus did. It was His food and drink to do the will of His Father. It was what He lived and died for. He had more peace than any who have ever lived. He said, “My peace I give to you.” It was a special peace. No one had greater love than He that He gave His life for the brethren.
He wept and cried over Jerusalem before they crucified Him. They rejected Him. Now He will raise up the New Jerusalem. It will be His greatest work. Israel and Judah will be saved, but Oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem!
