PSALM 1:1-3 Blessed — happy, fortunate, prosperous and enviable — is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly (following their advice, their plans and purposes), nor stands (submissive and inactive) in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down (to relax and rest) where the scornful (and the mockers) gather.
2. But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law — the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God — he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.
3. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted (and tended) by the streams of water, ready to bring forth his fruit in its season; his leaf also shall not fade or wither, and everything he does shall prosper (and come to maturity). Amp.
Mock – d) to hold up to scorn or contempt; ridicule.
The modern culture of today is so media oriented that it is the normal way of life for all to gather around the TV at night after a day on the job and after a big meal. Many families have been brought up this way. TV started out clean and innocent. Today it is not. Despite the bad language, violence, and sexual content, there is much anti-Christian content which may be hard to detect by some.
If your family or whomever you would have to share your living quarters with is okay with all the uncleanness that is being sent out over the airways then you must depart from them or you will lose much of what you have gained.
2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked up with unbelievers — do not make miss-mated alliances with them, or come under a different yoke with them, (inconsistent with your faith). For what partnership have right living and right standing with God with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light fellowship with darkness? Amp.
We are to be a witness in the darkness and show that we will not tolerate what is against the Word of God. If the Lord lives within you, you will become upset with all uncleanness and will not want to be anywhere near it almost to the point that it can make you physically ill. The Holy Spirit will always lead you out from the darkness into the Light.
When you follow the Holy Spirit, you need nothing of this world. Not TV or the world and all it has. There is so much to do in the Kingdom of God. He can fill up every moment of everyday with joy unspeakable.
He can create anything He wants to bless you. Then He will bring all that you do to maturity at the right time. All that you do will succeed. Who else can say that? Many times we are compared to trees. Trees grow very slow. Their roots are formed under the ground in the dark where no one can see but God.
He sees our roots. Our spiritual roots are formed in our heart. When we spend a lot of time in the Word of God and in prayer, in the secret place of worship and communion, our roots become strong.
However, if we spend a lot of time mad at someone and in unforgiveness or any other sin, these roots can become strong and choke out the good roots just like weeds do in a garden. Then the Holy Spirit will be doing uprooting in your heart which is a painful process. It is best to avoid the cause of bad roots.
Ephesians 3:17 May Christ through your faith actually dwell — settle down, abide, make His permanent home — in your hearts! May you be rooted deep in love and founded securely on love. Amp.
That is His will for us. He is love and where He dwells becomes love. And that love, loves too much to offend Him by tolerating the wickedness that cost Him so much.
