Psalm 103 is full of so many wonderful blessings. How far is the east from the west? That is a question that can only be answered by the Lord. All we can say is that it seems to go on and on. That is how far He has removed our sins if we fear and reverence Him.
If you would ask a non Christian what it means to fear the Lord, they would probably say fear of being punished by Him. But that is not what the scripture is saying.
If we sin and quickly bring it to the Lord openly without hesitating, knowing we were wrong, humbly asking for forgiveness, we can expect to be forgiven. But what if it is a sin that is attached to a hurt or some type of persecution where we were slandered. Our nature is to react when we are hurt. But now we are not allowed to have an attitude of self pity or anything unlike Jesus.
Some sins are hidden away because our focus is on the other persons sin toward us. We don’t see anything wrong with the way we feel because it feels normal. Those sins are not removed but remain and are spots on our heart that need His attention. And you can be sure that He will give it His attention.
When we have hidden sins that are from wounds and hurts from the past, the Lord will bring a similar circumstance in your life as a trial to set you free. Usually for me, something happens that causes me to react from the pain from the past wound. I always over react.
There is still a lot of pain from a past hurt that feels as if it just happened. It is like hitting your toe on something real hard and you react. The Lord knows what we need. We know when we over react to something. If we take these times to Him and ask, He will show us what is going on.
To be healed we must have the proper attitude in the midst of a painful problem. This is where the deep respect and love comes into the picture. He wants us to learn His ways. We have to take our eyes off of ourselves and our pain and see the need of the one who hurt us. In the midst of this situation what do we see?
I know for me I could see how absolutely different the love of God is and how Jesus not only suffered physically but because of the great love He had in His heart, He could never look inward to His own pain, but gave all the love He had in His heart for us. He poured out every drop.
What does it mean to lay down your life for the brethren? I know I cannot give that a good answer because I am still learning. I know He expects me to always focus on the good that He will bring out of every situation in my life. When I am able to do it my soul is at rest and He can flow through me for others. But I am not always successful.
I have told how the Lord uses my window showing me clouds and nature in beautiful ways. There have been many times there were clouds that looked like perfect feathers. I looked up feather in the dictionary and it meant attire, to provide or adorn. But it also meant an achievement worthy of pride (not that pride is okay). He has given me many cloud feathers when good things came along.
Just recently there has been a peacock outside on my roof, my patio and in the yard. So I looked it up in the concordance and it meant “To shout for joy,” and “Triumph.” The Lord allowed me to get a picture and actually sent it to my blog. That is a first for me.
What does this mean? This peacock is pretty but it has no long feathers like they are supposed to have. Maybe someone cut them off or maybe they stopped growing. I really don’t know. But He has given me plenty of feathers and doesn’t want me to lose them.
I have learned how to be abased but not to abound. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you. I have given up so much and it made me feel safe. Now He is giving it all back to me and I am arguing with the process. He made me for Him. It is okay to wear the pretty feathers that He gives. He made the peacock to be beautiful.
So I will learn to abound and Shout for Joy while I Triumph in my new pink feathers that I will be very thankful for and not let Satan steal. All the while focusing on the good outcome He will always bring out of every painful trial so He can flow through me as I learn to lay down my life from His heart of love.
SUBJECT — MERCY — DAVID WILKERSON
It is impossible to understand God’s grace until we come to the end of our own resources and experience His mercy. That grace delivers us from all shame and guilt.
