Rev. 12:14 But the woman was supplied with two wings of a giant eagle, so that she might fly from the presence of the serpent into the desert (wilderness) to the retreat where she is to be kept safe and fed for a time, and times, and half a time (3 1\2 years).

Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

I believe the eagle represents the power of the Holy Spirit. Waiting in the Presence of God with thanksgiving, believing that He is working all things for your good is a safe place. When things go wrong we want to sit down in despair and complain. That is not a safe place.

Our attitude can make us or break us. If we sing the Lord’s positive songs it will lift us up like the eagle. The key is staying in that positive, safe place. We need the power of the Holy Spirit because we all have an in born sin nature. As we pray and resist the tendency to complain and be negative we grow even in unfavorable circumstances. That is a blessing when suffering is used for our good.

We are not helping ourselves by becoming impatient and discouraged though we all do. Some trials take longer than we want . That is why we need the Holy Spirit. I pray everyday for a deeper infusion of the Holy Spirt in my life. We have not because we ask not. That is one reason for the cross, to forgive us and to fill us with power.

Isaiah 12:2 Behold God, My salvation! I will trust and not be afraid, for the Lord is my strength and my song; yes, He has become my salvation.

These are my two wings that lift me up out of the earthly into the heavenly realm. We can rejoice and be happy in any type of trial. That is how many in the Bible endured sufferings that we would absolutely cringe at.

The Hebrew definition for salvation means rescue, safety, deliver, healing, protection, save, to make whole, preserve and to get the victory. It is not only a ticket to heaven although that would be enough. But He loves us with such a perfect love that he has something greater in mind for us than we could ever think possible.

We are like trees and they grow very slowly. So we must learn to endure, to suffer, to yield, to pray, to worship, to be thankful and to believe — only through the power of the Holy Spirit. His great love will be with us all along the way, if we let it. There is nothing better.
