19. Many evils confront the consistently righteous; but the Lord delivers him out of them all. Amp. C.
I tried to do a Podcast but an error occurred and it would not let me convert it to an MP3 format. So I will try to recap what I said.
Psalm 34 mentions the word “deliver” many times. It means to set free. We have His promise in Psalm 34 that if we worshipfully fear Him, He will deliver us from all our fears, troubles and distress. That is a powerful promise. The key is in how we fear Him.
We are not to just fear going to hell and stay out of His way and just believe that He is God. We are to love Him and draw near to Him. We are to live close to Him. So if there is sin in our life, that cuts us off from Him. We cannot be content in living at a distance from Him. He wants to know us and be our friend. He is not content to live at a distance from us.
We must face the fact that if we are living at a distance from Him, it is because we would rather be doing something else. That is idolatry. He must have first place or no place. We must choose to follow Him and not allow anything to stop us from being close to Him. We must worshipfully fear offending Him and desire Him above all things. Then He will deliver us from all things that hurt us.
He is good and His promise is sure. It is up to us.
