PSALM 37
3. Trust (lean on, rely on and be confident) in the Lord, and do good: so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed.
4. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.
5. Commit your way to the Lord, roll and repose each care of your load on Him; trust (lean on, rely on and be confident) also in Him, and He will bring it to pass.
6. And He will make your uprightness and right standing with God go forth as the light, and your justice and right as the shining sun of the noonday. Amp. C.
Another Psalm of David to learn from. How many times have you heard verse 4 used incorrectly? We all want the desires of our own heart. We would not be normal if we didn’t. And there is a way to receive them from the Lord which is the best way to receive them. He will only give what lines up with His will.
First, we must trust in the Lord. In the Amplified it defines trust as lean on, rely on and be confident in the Lord. Do we lean on man for help or the Lord? It is easy to go to the doctor for help when you are sick and suffering. But if the Lord says that by His stripes you have been healed then why go? He says you are already healed. No reason to go. All you have are lying symptoms from the enemy.
We want our pain to leave now. That is why we go. But if we are strong and resist the healing will come. I have seen it happen many times. He is faithful if we believe His Word. We do not need all the tests. He has already healed us. He cannot lie.
When we obey His Word, we are dwelling in His land and will feed on His faithfulness. That is what feeds our soul. It is a wonderful place to be healed and protected by Him. That is how we can delight ourselves in Him. We are getting to know Him. And there is nothing better.
What do you delight in? Is He the best thing that ever happened to you? Or is the family and career better? Do you look forward to that vacation more than you look forward to being with Him? Then you are not delighting in Him.
He knows the desires of our hearts better than we do. There are times that we think if we just had this or that, then we would be happy. But the Lord can do the simplest things that can bring so much joy. He knows how to bless. We don’t even know them. They are secret. I have experienced it many times. He is so very good and loves us so very much.
We must learn how to give everything over to Him and leave it there. That is commitment. He will bring it to pass and cause us to be upright. We can try all day to perfect ourselves and fail every time. Only He can truly bring perfection in our souls.
The whole answer to receiving perfection and the desires of our heart is to trust in Him. He just wants to make us happy! He is so very good!

What a tender and faith-filled reflection. You beautifully remind us that delighting in the Lord is not about chasing blessings but about resting in the Giver Himself. When we truly lean on His faithfulness, even the quiet moments of waiting become sacred — because trust turns time into testimony.
Your words carry a gentle conviction that faith is not passive; it’s a daily choice to believe in His goodness when everything else seems louder. Thank you for this reminder that joy begins where self-effort ends — in the calm certainty that He is enough. 🌿💛
