PSALM 16
- Keep and protect me. O God, for in You I have found refuge, and in You do I put my trust and hide myself.
- I say to the Lord, You are my Lord, I have no good beside or beyond you.
I love Psalm 16. It always has something valuable. David is telling God to keep and protect him. We too have prayed for the Lord to protect us, but do we do all of what David does? How do we actually find refuge and hide ourselves in Him?
I believe it is in the heart and mind. David had a revelation of being in God’s presence and being protected by it. The Lord wants us to actually look to Him for our safety. He wants us to feel safe with Him alone. He is able to see in front and behind us. There is not anywhere as safe as with Him.
We need a revelation of His presence protecting us so we can hide ourselves in Him. The Lord sees in our heart and knows when there is trust. If He does not see trust you can bet a very hard trial is on its way to you.
When we trust we have a confident expectation that all will turn out right for us. That is why the Lord is always telling me to rest and focus on the good thing that He will bring out of any bad circumstances. That is trust.
There are times when bad things happen, and we focus on the bad thing. That usually brings fear. That is not trust. He said He would cause all things to work for our good. So, we must give Him the time to work things out for us. That is the time we exercise faith, then it grows stronger. We become healthier and strong during that time.
The Lord wants us to be like David and trust and hide ourselves in Him. He is one big safe hiding place. And just what we need.
