PSALM 84
- How lovely are Your tabernacles, O Lord of host!
- My soul yearns, yes even pine and is homesick for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh cry out and sing for the living God.
- Yes, the sparrow has found a house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even Your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God.
- Blessed – happy, fortunate (to be envied) – are those who dwell in Your house and Your presence: they will be singing Your praises all the day long. Selah, (pause and calmly think of that). AMP. C.
This Psalm is a song. It is a love song to the King. He is love and when His presence is present there is love. It is not a thing of the future, but it is very present. When He comes to dwell in your heart, there is nothing better.
It is His plan that when we experience His presence and love, our soul aches for more of Him and turns away from the flesh, sin and the world. Those things get in the way of Him. That is when the soul yearns and pines and gets homesick for His courts.
He knows how to test us and see what we want. He never forces us to do anything we don’t want to do. He will give us the world and all it has if that is what we want. But we will not have Him. We can have as much of Jesus as we want. It is our choice.
If we choose Him, we will have a place to lay our young. That means all those we pray for who are struggling. We are so blessed to be in His presence that we sing His praise all day long. That is where we are happiest.
