ROMANS 12:1-2 I appeal to you therefore, brethren and beg of you in view of all the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies — presenting all your members and faculties — as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

2. Do not be conformed to this world — this age, fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs. But be transformed (changed) by the entire renewal of your mind — by its new ideals and its new attitude — so that you may prove (for yourselves) what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect in His sight for you. The people back in Paul’s day were very familiar with the animal sacrifices that were offered not only by Israel but other nations. I am sure it was a very new and odd teaching that Paul was bringing to the Church. We can be blessed by the details that he brings to the scripture.

Most know that when you first come to the Lord that the old life in drugs, alcohol, sex and just bad behavior have to go. Not much is said about the sins of the heart, (anger, pride, bitterness, fear, greed, etc.) These are sins you cannot just walk away from. You have to see them and reject them and pray about them continually. These tend to affect our attitude and our mood if we let them.

We must choose to be separate from the world and not feed on it. If we are constantly watching and listening to the news, it will affect our attitude. We must be careful what spiritual food we eat. It can get into our heart and mind and cause a lot of problems.

If you obey this scripture, you will not do what the world does. You draw your information daily from the wells of salvation. He promises in Psalm 121:5-8 that He is our keeper, He will keep your life from evil; He will keep your life. We must stay away from corrupting influences that breed strife and quarrels.

My attitude must be pleasing to Him. There are times when it is not and I can tell because my joy level is down. There is never any time that He wants my joy level to be down. He promises to fill us with all joy in believing. However, it is a process that I have not completely learned. But we are working on it.

We have to grow up into the perfect will of God. We start out good, then acceptable and then He makes us complete and perfect in His sight and His will for us. What a beautiful thing that will be. He sees us now through the Light of Jesus and we are perfect in His eyes. Wouldn’t that be great if we could see what He sees? And yet that is just where our victory lies.

Thank You Jesus for loving us enough to share Your wonderful goodness, beauty and glory with us. Help us to be filled with Your good qualities so we can see what You see and have the proper attitude that will help us become the living sacrifice that is pleasing to You.

  1. Amen 🙏 Following God is more than just avoiding sin, it’s a full dedication of our lives. 🙏 We don’t just change our actions; our minds, attitudes, and hearts need renewing. When we focus on His Word and stay away from worldly distractions, we start living as He intended. Being a living sacrifice means letting God shape us from the inside out, growing from good, to acceptable, to perfect in His eyes.

  2. This piece radiates the quiet strength of a living sacrifice—where renewal springs from surrender and love refines the mind. Transformation unfolds gently, as obedience becomes worship aligned with God’s perfect will. 🙏
