PSALM 31
19. Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear, revere and worship You, goodness which You have wrought for those who trust and take refuge in You before the sons of men!
20. In the secret of Your presence You hide them from the plots of men; You keep them secretly in Your pavilion from the strife of tongues.
21. Blessed be the Lord! For He has shown me His marvelous loving favor when beset as in a besieged city. Amp. C.
We have another Psalm of David. He is remembering the battles and the protection He received from the Lord. He knows there were times that He was so outnumbered and there was no way out. That is when the Lord loves to swoop down and show Himself strong on behalf of His own.
He has all resources at His disposal. He can do anything. So, what does He do? He surrounded David with an invisible barrier. He calls it a pavilion which is like a tent covering him. It is as David has a protective shield which no enemy can penetrate. He is perfectly safe. Does David know this? He is safe from the plots and tongues of man.
Maybe he does not know this at the time. But eventually he does because he wrote about it for us to know. He knows he is in God’s presence which is a secret place. Only the Lord knows that David is in His presence. No one else knows. I wonder what the men thought who tried to cause him harm.
The Lord heard David when he called for help. The Lord is so good to David. He will also be so good to us when we cry for help. He will cover us with His presence and the enemy will have no effect on us. That is a safe place.
God’s goodness is our shelter. His presence keeps us safe and secure. Amen 🙏
