COLOSSIANS 3
12. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13. Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any; even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. KJV
We are to put on:
- Bowels of Mercy
- Kindness
- Humbleness of Mind
- Meekness
- Longsuffering
He is saying to forgive and forbear one another, to put on love and to let peace rule being thankful singing all the while!
We all know this is in the Bible and yet we all struggle with forgiving others and forbearing, which means to put up with things we don’t like. How do we put on a face of love when we do not want to love.
We simply cannot do these things on our own strength. It has to come from the Holy Spirit. It has to be done His way. That is the way of faith and obedience. Many times our past experiences dictate our future. We can be bound by a broken heart, a root of bitterness or a root of unbelief. I had all three.
We must have faith in the promises of God and not let negative experiences steal the victory. I had so many things go wrong that I just was afraid to believe anything good was going to happen because it would be taken away.
I struggled with watching television. I had quit and then I would go back. I was so much happier when I was not watching and really wanted the victory. But I was up and down.
Then I read David Wilkerson’s book, “The New Covenant Unveiled.” It had my answer. He said many cannot get the victory if they harbor unbelief due to past experiences. He said to pray the covenant and put it all on the Holy Spirit. I did what he said and my life changed overnight. He answered My prayer and set me free from the TV and much more.
I have learned how to pray the new covenant in every area of my life, and He always answers me, maybe not immediately but He always does because He has to. It is His promise. He always keeps His Word to us. We just have to believe it.
I have put an excerpt from “The New Covenant Unveiled.” I hope it makes it clear how I prayed and got the victory. My prayer is that many will pray the New Covenant and get the victory. Much of our painful problems are due to unbelief. The Lord will wipe it away and put His faith in our heart. Then we are on our way to compassion, mercy, patience and love.
QUOTE – THE NEW COVENANT UNVEILED – DAVID WILKERSON
“Lord, I’m going to believe you’ve given me your Holy Ghost. I believe He alone can deliver me from every chain that binds me. I believe He will convict me, lead me and empower me to overcome. I believe He causes me to obey Your Word. And I believe He will never depart from me, nor will He let me depart from You. I won’t limit your Spirit in Me. I’ll wait on him, call on Him and trust in Him—live or die.”
We’re to tell Him, “Holy Ghost, the Heavenly Father promised me He would put You in my heart—and I’ve committed myself to that promise. I will yield and I will cooperate, for I want to be holy. You said you will cause me to walk in His ways and obey His every word. I don’t know how you plan to do that, but You made an oath, and You cannot lie. This is all written in the Word, Holy Spirit. So come—do Your work in me. I’ve entrusted my very soul to this promise.

EDITED REPOST – This is a blog I wrote when I first started blogging that no one read. I can look back now and see how all the Lord did for me and how different I am today. Truly when the Lord sets free, we are free indeed. I have so much joy and happiness in my life I did not have back then. I have so many victories now that I did not have then. He has truly filled up the void in my life with Himself. I hear His voice so much clearer than I did back then.
I can now say for a fact that His promises are true. He does what He says He will do! I can sing of the victory!

We need the Holy Spirit to fill us with mercy, kindness, humility, patience, and love. By trusting His promises and yielding to Him, He empowers us to overcome unbelief, forgive, and walk in victory.
