PSALM 16

5. The Lord is my chosen and assigned portion, my cup; You hold and maintain my lot.

6. The lines are fallen for me in pleasant places; yes, I have a good heritage.

7. I will bless the Lord, Who has given me counsel; yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.

8. I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Amp. C.

I love Psalm 16. It is amazing how it has so many teachings and so much comfort. It has many answers to our problems. David is always in a dangerous place it would seem. But he is for the most part thankful and positive. We can always learn from him.

We can be thankful if the Lord is our portion. What else is there that can compare to Him? We do not live like those in the world who have no comforter when things fall apart. We must keep Him continually before us. That means we cannot live with our head in our phone. We cannot be focused on our problems. If He maintains my lot, then I cannot complain. My lot is right and good for me.

My life should be one of pleasant places. My life should be filled with good. If so, I am definitely happy and why is that? He is speaking to me. He is teaching me through every rough time. He is using everything in my life for my good, just like He said. He is instructing me when it is dark or in the night seasons or hard times. Therefore, I am learning and growing. I am consecrated and sanctified. Is that not His plan for us?

If I have set Him continually before me, I shall not be moved. And why is that? Verse 8 says because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. It is not because of me. It is because He is here with me. His presence keeps me safe because of His Almighty Power. He is here so I will not be moved. He holds me steady. He is my rock of refuge and safety.

Therefore, I am glad. I can rest and rejoice because I dwell and live in safety. Do I make mistakes? Yes. Do I learn from them? Yes. And through it all He is with me and will not leave me. He will show me where to walk. He has provided me with the path of life that is filled with His presence. He has allowed me to be filled with joy and find pleasures forevermore.

Why? Because it is found at His right hand and that is where He has caused me to live. That is my lot. No, the world does not enjoy the blessings of His right hand. Just tell me Lord Jesus, how can it get any better than this?
