NEHEMIAH 5
11. Return this very day to them their fields, vineyards, olive yards, and houses, also a hundredth of all the money, grain, new wine, and oil that you have exacted from them.
12. Then they said, we will restore these and require nothing from them. We will do as you say. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of the lenders, that they would do according to this promise.
After Babylon took over Israel, some who were left behind were starving because of the Persian taxes they had to pay. The only option they had was to mortgage their homes and fields to survive. Some were forced to sell their children as slaves. The Israelites who had enough to lend took advantage of their brothers and sisters even though it was forbidden in the Law of Moses.
Nehemiah came back from Babylon to rebuild the walls of the Temple. He had to rebuild more than the physical walls. He was rebuilding the people in many ways also.
Nehemiah had one of the hardest jobs of any and He was not a prophet or a King but performed the duties of them and more in a great way.
There will be last days outpouring and how God will restore. He also brings His rewards and recompense with Him. Each will receive what is coming to him, whether good or bad.
When the Lord told Abraham how He was going to bless Him, He said, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you.” This applies to all of Abraham’s Offspring, or “The Church.” It is sad to say, that there will be more cursing passed out by the Lord than blessing.
Sins of the tongue are so easy to slip by. Pointing the finger, gossip, slander and just downright making fun of people is wrong.
Matthew 12:37 For by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned and sentenced.
We have the power to bless or to curse. Which will you choose?
