PSALM 98

  1. O Sing unto the Lord a new song; for He hath done marvelous things: His right hand, and His holy arm, hat gotten Him the victory.

4. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

5. Sing unto the Lord with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.

6. With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.

7. Let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

8. Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills be joyful together.

9. Before the Lord; for He cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall He judge the world, and the people with equity.

This Psalm is telling us what the Lord expects from His creation. We are to make a joyful noise along with the trumpets, the sea, the world and all who dwell therein. He wants the floods and the hills to clap their hands and be joyful.

A lady at church a few years back told me that me and my friend Cheryl break the ice at Church. We would go down front with our tambourines and dance because they would usually start with fast praise songs that were joyful. I could tell she had a lot of difficulty during the worship and needed help just being thankful and joyful.

Thanksgiving and joy are the beginning. You cannot come into God’s house without them. You must enter His gate with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. If they are omitted those like my friend with never enter into His gate and court let alone His house.

Praise is contagious just like fear and depression. If the songs are happy and joyful, it will spread. Just like the sad and depressing songs will also spread sadness.

Lets spread some joy!
