FULLNESS OF JOY

PSALM 6:11

11. You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

We are blessed with fullness of joy. Why are there so many sad Christians if we are blessed with fullness of joy? At the Bible Study I attend at my Church, they played a song that was supposed to minister to everyone. The singer said she wished she was back when she first got saved. She would then be so much happier. I was the only one that disagreed with that song.

Am I wrong? I believe it was insulting to Jesus, accusing Him of not taking care of me. His Word is truth. We are sanctified by Truth. What is the Truth about joy?

DEFINITIONS

Joy -c) blithesomeness or glee, exceedingly glad, mirth, pleasure, rejoicing.

The problem is always with us. If we are not receiving the blessings of God there is a reason. It is up to us to find out what that reason is for our sadness. Then we repent and find the joy that we have misplaced.

The Lord lets us feel our own misery as a sign to us that something is not right. It is a tool in our hand to help us to get ourselves clean. We must not be content to live at a distance from the Lord. If there is no joy within us it is because we have walked away from Him.

I think it was Spurgeon who said, ” If we lost the Lord, we must go back to the place where we lost Him. That is where He is.” This means that we are to recollect the last time we were happy and retrace out steps. We lost Him somewhere when we moved off the path of life.

Psalm 68 says twice to be in high spirits. If we fall into self-pity we are in for trouble. We have the choice to make. We can walk in fullness of joy no matter what our circumstances. It is possible to live a wonderfully happy life. He suffered to give us life more abundantly. Are we going to let the devil win and steal our blessings?
