ROMANS 5:5
5. And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. KJV
DEFINITIONS
Peace -c) prosperity, one, peace, quietness, rest.
Patience -c) cheerful or hopeful endurance, constancy, patient continuance (waiting).
Romans 5:1-5 is full of goodness. Verse 5 ends the goodness with love. We are told that the trials we live through if endured rightly will cause the love of God to be poured out into our hearts. The love of God is what changes us and makes us extremely happy.
We start out being justified by faith in Jesus, so we have peace. The Greek word for peace is more than peace. It means prosperity of the soul, quietness and rest, which is so important.
To be at rest means we are spiritually healthy. We have rest of our heart and soul. There is no anxiety or fears of any kind. Rest is the evidence of faith. Our focus is right. We know we are safe and are not worried.
We have access to His grace, and we rejoice and enjoy His glory which is all that He is. All this is working patience within us which is constancy or patient continuance or waiting.
He wants us to learn how to wait without growing discouraged. Discouragement is a sign something is wrong. We are to go the Lord immediately and find out why we are discouraged. If we follow Romans 5, we will be happy and content. We will not grow weary in well doing but we will be maturing spiritually. And that is what we all want.
