PSALM 115
9. O Israel, trust and take refuge in the Lord! Lean on, rely on and be confident in Him? He is their help and shield. Amp. C.
The Lord is telling Israel to trust and take refuge in Him after rebuking the idolaters. He knew they were going to turn from Him and serve the idols of the other nations. He warned ahead of time, but they still jumped into idolatry.
How do we trust and take refuge in the Lord? We do it by leaning and relying on and being confident in Him and not man. We must take refuge in the Lord. Meaning He is the one we rely on for help.
17:5 Thus says the Lord: Cursed (with great evil) is the strong man who trusts and relies on frail man, making weak (human) flesh his arm, and whose mind and heart turn aside from the Lord.
6. He shall be like a shrub or a person naked and destitute in the desert and shall not see any good come; but shall dwell in the parched places in the wilderness in uninhabited salt land.
When we trust in man for help, we end up empty and dry and in the salt pits. Think of today and all the ways we go to man for help. Doctors are men. The Lord can take care of us. He needs no help. If by His stripes we have been healed, then we should believe Him and not go to man for help.
