PSALM 16
7. I will bless the Lord Who has given me counsel; yes, my heart instructs me in the night seasons.
Psalm 16 is where the Lord leads me so very often. It has the answer I need. I pray about what to read every morning and wait to hear Him speak. I have been doing this for many years. This is how David Wilkerson taught in His messages to hear God’s voice.
It takes time and diligence, but the Lord is always there waiting to speak to us. We have to give Him the opportunity by listening. He speaks to the still place in our heart. We must learn to be still and wait. Also, if we allow the media in, we are in danger of hearing other voices. That is not my opinion it is a fact that I have experienced. If you want to hear Him speak it will cost you your will and fleshly desires. But there is nothing better than to hear His sweet gentle loving voice. It can change night into day in a moment.
He led me to Psalm 16 and led me out of a painful situation. He gave my heart counsel when I was hurting. That is the night of sorrow. Sometimes we must go there because He did. That is how we get to know Him at times, by His suffering.
I was hurting because I thought some were with me who are not with me. If we are like Him we will irritate some because they are convicted and uncomfortable. They will reject us because they are rejecting the ways of the Spirit. There are so many fleshly Christians out there why would they listen to me?
Jesus knows and will make it work for my good. The pain I must endure, but He maintains my lot and is my portion and cup. So, I am continually filled. Circumstances may not change but He will make them work for my good at the right time.
If I continually set Him before me, I will not be moved, therefore, my heart is glad and rejoices. I shall rest and confidently dwell in safety even in the trial, vs. 8-9.
He shows me the path of life. He leads me every day and I must follow. I have fullness of joy in His presence and pleasures for evermore, vs. 11. But it does come with price and there is pain and rejection along the way. But He delivers me out of them all.
