PSALM 40

  1. I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord, and He inclined to me and heard my cry.
  2. He drew me up out of a horrible pit — a pit of tumult and destruction — out of the miry clay (froth and slime) and set my feet upon a rock, steadying my steps and establishing my goings.
  3. And He has put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many shall see and fear – revere, and worship — and put their trust and confident reliance in the Lord. Amp.

Another Psalm of David. I think about David singing praises to the Lord loudly without any hesitation and how it affects those around him. I wonder what his music sounded like. But it is not David’s music. It is the Lord’s music because He put a new song in David’s mouth, a song of praise. To me that means a fast, exciting and happy song that makes you want to shout, dance and clap for joy.

Why is it that a lot of church people think church songs must be slow and sad? The Lord is not slow and sad. He wants us to be happy and excited about Him and let it show to others. Is it disrespectful to be joyful? Who is it that wants us to be slow and sad but Satan. There is no victory in slow and sad.

We are to sing songs about the greatness of God. Now that is something to be excited about. If out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks, then it would be in our best interest to be loudly joyful.

I believe David had something to be very joyful about. He said the Lord lifted him out of a horrible pit of destruction and put him in a safe place with his feet secure. He was happy and showed the world around him so!

Is that not what we should do? We have been saved from the fiery pits of hell. We have been given the Holy Spirit to love and change, help and guide us in all we do! We have so much reason to shout for joy and show the world what we have been given. But when you go to church do you feel embarrassed to make it known to others how you feel?

Well maybe this is in the Word of God because He has put a new song of praise in our mouth, and He wants us to let those around us see (not hear), and fear the Lord and worship and put their trust in Him. There is power in praise. He wants us to make His praise known to the world and the church around us!
