PSALM 63
- O God, You are my God; earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You, in a dry and weary land, where no water is.
- So, I have looked upon You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory.
- Because Your loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.
- So will I bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.
- My whole being shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.
David is again so blessed by the Lord and still not blessed by his enemies. This is one of his best psalms because it says what we all need to hear. I have written about it before. Let’s see what else we can learn from Psalm 63.
We live in a dry parched land. We are more blessed than those in the Old Testament days before Jesus. We do have access to the throne room of God 24/7. But do we access it enough? The water David is seeking is Holy Spirit water. We do not drink it like we drink liquids. We drink it in our spirit. We must learn how to do this and do it often or this world will get us down.
John 4:14 But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty any more. But the water that I will give him shall become a spring of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) continually within him unto eternal life.
This is Jesus talking to the woman at the well. He later tells her that the Father is seeking those who worship in spirit and truth. It is what we must do to be filled and bubbling over. He fills us when we worship.
What is it that David said. He said he was earnestly seeking the Lord because his inner self thirsted for Him and was faint. David was a worshipper and knew this world did not have what made him happy.
He had looked upon the Lord in the sanctuary and saw His power and His glory. He tastes His loving-kindness which is better than life. He blesses the Lord and his hands shoot up in the air.
What happens? His whole being is satisfied and praise come flooding out of his lips like bubbling water flowing from a spring. We must keep drinking from this spring to keep it flowing within us.
We must keep earnestly seeking Him and looking upon Him and His power and glory. We must continually taste His loving-kindness that is better than life. Then we will follow hard after Him. This is preparing us for eternal life. How wonderful!
