PSALM 3
8. Salvation belongs to the Lord; Your blessing be upon Your people. Selah (pause, and calmly think of that). Amp. C.
This is a Psalm of David when he ran from his son Absalom. David was not sure of the Lord’s will for him and so he fled. He was used to seeking the Lord about His moves. But not this time. Because it was his son, he was confused. He left with the ark but sent it back with the priests more like spies than priests.
He must have had his focus on the circumstances instead of the Lord. So, he was in the flesh and using sense and reason. The Lord had mercy on David. He would not abandon him now especially in such difficult times.
DEFINITIONS
Salvation -c) “Yeshuwa” something saved; deliverance, hence aid, victory, prosperity, health, welfare.
When we look at the definition, it is from the Hebrew word “Yeshuwa.” We know that to be One of the names of the Lord. Salvation is from the Hebrew word “Yeshuwa.” When He saves He gives of Himself.
He saves and delivers and puts their feet in a safe place and prospers them. Victory is the way and not defeat. Satan cannot beat David. Then why is David fleeing? Because he does not know it. He is going to learn.
The Lord’s plan for us is always better than we can conceive. He wants to deliver us from every problem and prospers us and give us good health and well-being. He never wants us to run away from a fight. Why would we run when we are more than conquerors through Jesus?
Salvation belongs to the Lord and He gives it to His chosen ones. Absalom did not have what David had. He was not God’s chosen king of Israel. David’s love for his son got in the way. His focus was not on the power of the Lord in his life. That is where David’s true battle was.
The Lord was with David and sent him away and brought him back. Then David knew he was not to be afraid of 10,000 who set themselves against him. The Lord struck all his enemies with defeat. It all worked for his good. David had the Lord’s blessing.
