PSALM 8

  1. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is Thy name in all the earth! Who has set thy glory above the heavens.
  2. Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

DEFINITIONS

Glory -c) weight, splendor or copiousness – glorious, honor.

Strength -c) force, security, majesty, praise, boldness, loud, might, power.

Name -c) character.

It is so wonderful to see how the Lord created the earth from His perspective. He uses the very young because they are the closest to purity on the earth. The praises that come from their mouths are precious to Him.

His glory He could have kept to Himself. But He places it high above all else. Many times, He and the scriptures say to look up. The higher we go, the more of Him. This meaning for glory is the same as Isaiah 60:1. He shares it with us.

The meaning of glory is His splendor in abundance. If we have His glory upon us, it would truly be so heavy we would be slain in the spirit before Him. We have to learn how to receive His glory a little at a time. But there really is no such thing as a little when it means copiousness or abundance of Him. He wants us to have enough of Him that we are so full that we are like Him.

This is actually a picture of victory. His name is His character. His character and all that He is is given to us to be like Him. That is how excellent He and His character is in this earth. And one day His glory will be abundant as the water covers the sea for all to enjoy. That is abundance.
