PSALM 145
- I will extoll You, my God, O King; and I will – with gratefulness Your name forever and ever.
- Every day with its new reasons will I bless You – affectionately and gratefully praise You; yes, I will praise Your name forever. Amp.
Then what does David do? He begins to list all the wonderful reasons he has to bless and praise the Lord. He begins it all by saying, “Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised.” (KJV)
How do we greatly praise Him? It is something we should all think about from time to time. I am sure when we get to heaven, we will see what it really means to greatly praise the Lord. He goes on to say how great He is in mercy and compassion and goodness.
He draws near to those who call upon Him in truth (verse 18-19). How special is that? He wants to be close to us. He just is looking for those who sincerely want to be close to Him. And then He will make it happen.
I love verse 20 the most. “The Lord preserves all those who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy.” His heart is touched by our love for Him so much that it brings us protection. I don’t necessarily like the last part of the verse, but what a wonderful place it would be to live without any wickedness!
He ends it by saying that He will always speak the praises of the Lord. Do we do that? We should think about this Psalm 145 this week and try to bless the Lord with our mouth all week long. Then we will know what it means. And just maybe we will continue to bless Him forever like David.
