PSALM 6

3. My (inner) self as well as my body is also exceedingly disturbed and troubled. But You, O Lord, how long until You return and speak peace to me? Amp. C.

This is another Psalm of David. He is praying for God’s mercy. He is weak and withered away only the way sin could have left him. He is asking the Lord not to rebuke him in anger. His inner self is so very troubled.

He is crying all night instead of sleeping in peace. He must have done something that He knows is wrong and needs help. He cannot wipe this sin away. He cannot speak peace to his soul. Only the Lord can do that wonderful act for His child.

Maybe other sinners have seen this thing that has him so distraught. He is telling them to hit the road. It is amazing how David did not have the New Testament and is living like he did. He is asking the Lord for help. He is asking Him to hear his pain and tears.

Then in verse 8 he says, “Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.” It is a great thing when sin affects someone like this. He had no peace or calmness in his heart until the Lord spoke peace to him. It is almost like when the Lord spoke to the storm and said, “Be still.”

Now David is okay and asks the Lord to make those who trouble him to depart. David was so pure that sin could not dwell in him. He could not rest until it was dealt with. He was miserable. It is a good thing when we are affected that way because deliverance is at our door and soon, we will be back up on the mountain top.

This is something that the Lord allowed because David needed to be set free in some area. The Lord let it come for his good. It is when sin can come into a heart and the soul is not affected that there is a problem. That is a heart that is not pure and never has been. Sin is at home there. So unlike David.

Psalm 51:3 For I am conscious of my transgressions, and I acknowledge them; my sin is ever before me.
