PSALM 99

5. Extol the Lord our God, and worship at His footstool! Holy is He!

7. He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud; they kept His testimonies, and the statute that He gave them.

8. You answered them, O Lord our God. you were a forgiving God to them, although avenging their evil-doings and practices.

9. Extol the Lord our God, and worship at His holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy!

DEFINITIONS

Testimony -d) a statement made to establish a fact, especially one made under oath in court.

This is a special psalm that gives the Lord glory and worship. They extol Him and tell of His mercy and forgiveness. They speak of Moses, Aaron and Samuel who called upon His name, and He answered them.

Just what does it mean to keep His testimonies? We are not told so we can only suppose that if the word testimony means a fact that Moses, Aaron and Samuel were telling the people the facts about the Lord. They were getting to know Him and were learning the facts about Him.

But how did they keep the facts? They were living lives that showed they believed the Lord was holy. We are not holy. Only He is holy. They were constantly telling the people to do the right thing. And they never did do the right thing.

Moses and Aaron would always show them the goodness of the Lord. Even when they did wrong, the Lord always forgave them. They would show His holiness. They would worship Him showing that there was none like Him, that He alone is holy.

They never moved from that position. They kept the fact clear before all that the Lord was a holy and good and wonderful God and worthy of all their praise and worship.

Let us also go forward and show the world that He is a good and wonderful God. Let us show them that He is worthy of our life. Let us show them that He is better to us than a million worlds. Let us show them that we adore Him!

I think that might be how He wants us to keep His testimonies!
