ISAIAH 62

4. You, (Judah) shall no more be termed Forsaken, nor shall your land be called Desolate any more, but you shall be called Beulah (that is, Married); for the Lord delights in you and your land shall be married (owned and protected by the Lord). Amp. C.

Judah means praise. She has been the chosen tribe of the Lord to be His bride. But she has had her share of misery, backsliding and idolatry. The Lord has always chosen her to be His bride even in her wanderings. He has never strayed from her side, waiting for her knowing one day she would belong completely to Him.

Romans 9:15. For He says to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion (pity) on whom I will have compassion. 16. So, then God’s gift is not a question of human will and human effort, but God’s mercy. It depends not on one’s own willingness nor on his strenuous exertion as in running a race, but on God’s having mercy on him.

The Lord knows our sins and its effects. And He still finds us worthy of His great help. Without His mercy where would we be? He forgives us a thousand times patiently waiting for us to get it right. He pours His own goodness inside of us so we can do His will. Why? Because He loves us.

Romans 9:25 Just as He says in Hosea, Those who were not My people I will call My people, and her who was not beloved I will call My beloved.

He has chosen whom He has chosen. He is the boss and will spend eternity with whom he desires to spend it with. It is His world. He knows the beginning from the end. There are no surprises with Him. If He says they are his beloved bride, then they most assuredly are His beloved bride.

He says in Isaiah 62:7 that He will make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. Names really do matter. Judah means praise. He says it shall not be taken away. He is coming back with recompense. Praise will set the stage for His coming!

12. And they shall call them, The holy people, the redeemed of the Lord; and you shall be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.
