PSALM 12
2. To his neighbor each one speaks words without use or worth or truth; with flattering lips and double heart (deceitfully) they speak. Amp. C.
DEFINITIONS
Truth -d) the quality or state of being true.
True -d) faithful, loyal, reliable; certain; in accordance with a fact; not false; conforming to an original standard; exact, accurate; genuine, honest, virtuous.
This is a Psalm of David. He is making the statement that sounds a lot like today. There is so much sin all around. And because of that truth has become a rare thing. Everyone has their own idea of truth. They have changed Laws to accommodate man’s feelings and ideas.
There are many scriptures that backup the importance of truth. Here are few:
- Psalm 15:1 Lord, who shall abide in Thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in Thy holy hill?
- Psalm 15:2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
- Psalm 51:6 Behold, Thou desirest truth in the inward parts; and in the hidden part Thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
- John 16:13 Howbeit when the Spirit of Truth is come, He will guide you into all truth…
- John 17:17 Sanctify them through Thy truth; Thy Word is truth.
- Romans 2:8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath.
- 2 Thess. 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the truth that they might be saved.
- Rev. 22:15 But without are the dogs and those who practice sorceries (magic arts) and impurity (the lewd, adulterers) and the murders and idolaters, and everyone who loves and deals in falsehood – untruth, error, deception and cheating.
We see that the Truth is what opens the door for us into the eternal. If we reject the truth in some way or area, it can stop us from being cleansed. This covers so many areas. We must not believe any false doctrine or man’s made-up rules and regulations.
We must not believe Satan’s lies about ourselves. How many have a poor self-image because of the lies Satan keeps planting in their mind? How many times do we do something wrong, and Satan is right there saying, “It’s okay, it’s no big deal?”
There is a plague of falsehood, and the scripture is telling us that you will not make it if the truth is not in your heart. What is the answer? We must receive the truth to be saved, and Jesus is the Truth.
Jesus is always the only answer. We must have such a close relationship with Him that we discuss all these things with Him so that He removes them. It is always up to us to believe what is true. We must take everything to Him and leave them there.
Remember the most important of all is that we are sanctified or cleansed by truth. We must have the truth in us, or we will be full of sin. The Holy Spirit will lead us into all Truth. That is His job. So right there all we have to do is to put it all on Him. We cannot do such a big job ourselves. But we must have this in our prayers continually. You have not because you ask not!
