ISAIAH 4
2. In that day the Branch of the Lord shall be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land shall be excellent and lovely to those who have escaped of Israel. Amp.
When we read “in that day,” they usually mean the day of the Lord. Chapter 3 is all about the Judgement in Jerusalem. Now, in Chapter 4 He is talking about those who have made it through and repented of their sins. They have been cleansed and purged and are now holy. They are the fruit or Branch of the Lord. The definition of Branch is sprout or fruit. But since it is capitalized it means Jesus is there. They are filled with Him.
They have been through purging by the spirit of judgment and burning. The Lord is a consuming fire and knows how to burn away what is wrong about us. Is it painful? Yes, it is painful. Is it worth the pain? The other option is hell and I believe a lot more painful.
When He is done, He will create over the whole site of Jerusalem, over every dwelling place of Mount Zion and over her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night; for over all the glory shall be a canopy – a defense of divine love and protection. Verse 5.
This is during the last days which will be encompassed all around with fire and judgment on this earth. But the Lord has provided a place of refuge and a shelter from the storm. Verse 6.
The key to this is to be able to endure the sifting and cleansing victoriously. We must keep ourselves in the love of God knowing and believing that His love for us is great. We must keep our eyes on Him and off our weakness, circumstances and the lies of the enemy.
We must learn to believe that His Word is true, and He will cause all these things to work for our good no matter how scarry or hard they seem to be. He is our only safety in the last days.
