PSALM 117
- O Praise the Lord, all you nations! Praise Him, all you people!
- For His mercy and loving-kindness are great toward us, and the truth and faithfulness of the Lord endure forever. Praise the Lord! Hallelujah!
DEFINITIONS
Praise -d) commend the worth of; express approval of; to laud the glory of God, etc. as in song; glorify.
Glorify -d) to give glory to; to exalt in worship; to honor.
Honor -d) high regard or great respect given or received.
We are commanded to Praise the Lord with all the nations and all the people. It goes on to tell us why we should praise Him. For His great mercy and loving kindness, that are so greatly poured out upon us. It should make us think about what He does for us. How much He loves us and is so merciful.
Our songs are to show how we feel about Him. How much do we respect Him? How can we commend His worth? Can we get excited enough to make a joyful shout of praise? Do we mean the words we sing to Him in Church? If we don’t, that makes us a false worshipper and a liar. Liars have their place in the lake of fire.
He gave every drop of blood for us. Can we not shout out His greatness? Can we give Him all that is right? He is Truth and Faithfulness. That is to be commended. Where would we be without His faithfulness?
Truth is the basis for Life. Without Truth there would be no justice. There would be no faith. The Gospel is based on Truth. We are sanctified by Truth, John 17:17. Truth is about the only thing that matters.
If you know someone who cannot tell the truth, you cannot depend on them for much. You cannot trust them. They are always causing division in some way. They only think of themselves and cause pain.
The Lord is the opposite of all that and we should pay attention to that. What would we do without His goodness? He is love and all we ever need. We should let Him know.
