PSALM 22
REPOST
2. You have given him his heart’s desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah!
3. For you send blessings of good things to meet him; You set a crown of pure gold on his head.
4. He asked life of You, and You gave it to him, long life forever, evermore.
5. His glory is great because of Your aid; splendor and majesty you bestow upon him.
6. For You make him to be blessed and a blessing for ever; You make him exceedingly glad with the joy of Your presence.
7. For the king trusts and relies on and is confident in the Lord, and through the mercy and steadfast love of the Most High he will never be moved.
This is one of the happiest of the Psalms. David is not running from his enemies or asking for help. He has a thankful heart and is voicing his blessings. He is most probably singing this one!
The first one is his heart’s desire. I wonder what it is. He does not say. But from reading all the other ones, I’ll say it is the Lord. How did he receive the crown. The Lord has made him a king. He defeated his enemies and now can rest in his blessings. The biggest being the presence of God.
That is what makes David so special. He did not ask for a new car or house, silver or gold. He did not ask for 300 wives. He wanted to spend time with the Lord. The Lord brought him out of his trials with Saul. And now he is king and ruler. He trusts and relies on the Lord because He brought him through. Now it is over, and he can rule over Israel with the Lord.
He has learned through each trial he faced how the Lord was faithful to him. That makes him filled with love and hope for what is coming in his future as king.
We all need the trials to teach is to trust and rely on the Lord. When we see how He reacts in our time of need, we are changed. We learn how good He is and trust that He always will be! That is victory!
