PSALM 68

  1. Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered: let them also that hate Him flee before Him.
  2. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
  3. But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.
  4. Sing unto God, sing praises to His name: extol Him that rideth upon the heavens by His name JAH, and rejoice before Him.
  5. A Father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in His holy habitation.
  6. God setteth the solitary in families: He bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

DEFINITIONS

Rebellious -c) to turn away; to be refractory.

Refractory -d) stubborn; obstinate, hard to manage; resistant to heat; hard to melt or work; not yielding to treatment.

Refract -d) to bend (a ray of light, etc.) as it passes from one medium to another.

Parch -d) to expose to great heat so as to dry; to make very thirsty.

Psalm 68 is a song of David. He is singing God’s praises and believes his enemies are scattering. I believe he feels God’s Spirit within him. And it is rising. He is experiencing God’s power and learning. The Lord never forces Himself on us. We must let Him arise. He wants us to know how He works so He can give us the victories we need.

We must yield to Him and allow His presence to come and dwell and do what we need, or we will dwell in a parched land. Are you filled with His love and enjoying every moment of it or are you dry?

When we study the definition of rebellion it gives us a picture of what the Lord wants from us. We must remember that we are still being created. We are not finished. If we do not yield to His Spirit, we will be cast out as rebellious.

He is moving His Spirit from Him to us. As He does this there are changes that have to take place. We must bend just like a ray of light does. We must bend and give up our old ways of life and take on the new life of the Holy Spirit.

If we do not bend to His new way of life for us, He will call us rebellious, and we will dwell in a parched land. A parched land is very dry. Where the Holy Spirit is not obeyed, He cannot dwell. Without the Holy Spirit, our spirit becomes very dry and thirsty. Satan dwells in the dry parts of the earth. It is not safe or smart to not bend and yield to the Holy Spirit.

This is a Psalm of victory for the Davids of this earth. They have learned how to let God arise, so the enemy is scattered. That is just what is going to happen when he returns. All His enemies will be gone. It will be a wonderful time for those who have bended to His will for them.

Psalm 68:9 You or God did send a plentiful rain, You did restore and confirm Your heritage when it languished and was weary. AMPC

      1. That’s great. Looks like you’ll be even busier!
I am doing good! My Church is undergoing a lot of changes. The Pastor quit after 18 years. But so far, the changes have been good. But they want to bring in a new pastor from outside. It is just different. But the Lord showed me He was making the changes for my good. So, I am positive and praying! πŸ™πŸ»

      2. Amen πŸ™πŸΎ. Such a comforting reassurance when you can hear the voice of God and he lets you in on his plans. What a wonderful thing to have a relationship with God. I have no idea how people manage without him. 😁
