ISAIAH 60
- Arise (from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you: rise to a new life)! Shine – be radiant with the glory of the Lord: for your light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you!
- For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and dense darkness all peoples; but the Lord shall arise upon you, (O Jerusalem), and His glory shall be seen on you. Amp.
DEFINITIONS
Darkness -c) misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness, Withholding the Light; hide.
Glory -c) splendor, abundance, honor.
Light -c) Happiness, bright, clear, morning, sun, illuminous.
Illuminous -d) to give light, to make clear, explain, to inform, enlighten.
We see that David had to deal with many who were in darkness. He talks about them in Psalm 12. He says in verse 1 that godly people are here no more and have vanished from among the sons of men. If that was the case then, what is it now?
Psalm 12:5 Now will I arise, says the Lord, because the poor are oppressed, because of groans of the needy; I will set him in safety and in the salvation for which he pants.
The Lord has been waiting all these years to arise and shine in His people. He has a plan that will not change. The evil will get worse as the remnant gets smaller and smaller. But He will make a distinction just as He did in Moses’ day.
He sent the plagues in Egypt as He preserved His own. He blessed them with light while others were covered in darkness. He was their glory and defense. All knew their God was real.
Isaiah 65:13 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, My servants shall eat, but you shall be hungry; behold, My servants shall drink, but you shall be thirsty: behold, My servants shall rejoice, but you shall be put to shame;
14. Behold, My servants shall sing for joy of heart, but you shall cry out for pain and sorrow of heart, and shall wail and howl for anguish, vexation and breaking of spirit.
And then there is Psalm 12 again.
Psalm 12:7 You will keep them and preserve them, O Lord; You will guard and keep us from this evil generation forever.

It’s reassuring to know that, as promised in Isaiah and Psalms, God will continue to uphold and safeguard those who seek Him, even as the world around us may grow darker.
Your reflection serves as a powerful reminder of God’s unchanging plan and His promise to be a source of light and salvation.
God will not be mocked. All will reap what they sow. Sowing to the flesh is death and opposition to God. Galatians 6:7-8, Romans 8:4-8.
Not my reflection but the Word’s reflection.
Amen 🙏
Thank you for the description of “darkness”. For those who can see the mysteries, most of us only focus on the evil it describes, but there is more darkness than we can understand. Blessings, Wenda.
The description of darkness is not mine but the definition of the Hebrew word “choshek” from the concordance . So many are in darkness, and it will get worse.
Blessings always!
