PSALM 20

5. We will shout in triumph at Your salvation and victory, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners; the Lord fulfill all your petitions.

6. Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy Heaven with the saving strength of His right hand.

7. Some trust in and boast of chariots, and some of horses; but we will trust in and boast of the name of the Lord our God.

8. They are bowed down and fallen; but we are risen and stand upright.

9. O Lord, give victory; let the King answer us when we call. Amp.

DEFINITIONS

Banners -c) to flaunt; to be conspicuous.

I was speaking before of Phil Driscoll’s teaching on Praise and Worship and the sound that we make. David is saying when we receive answers from heaven we will shout in triumph and victory. He is setting up flags to be obvious to all how he feels about the Lord. He is excited about the answers he has received and wants to shout it to the world.

Is that what we do today when we receive answers or are we afraid of offending someone? There are many adversaries today. David set up banners. No one does that today. The David’s are the minority in our society. He would be considered a fanatic. Who would carry a flag around to tell everyone their prayer was answered? And yet look at the crazy T-shirts people wear.

He was stating loudly that some trust in all the wrong things. They were going to fall but he was going to rise and stand upright. They are fallen but we are risen because we trust in Him.

How many would fall apart if they could not wake up to their coffee, breakfast and news. If that is the first thing you encounter, then you are in for a downfall. Jesus must have the first part of your day. He is jealous that way. Do you have emptiness inside or are you filled with His love to overflowing? Now is the time to answer the question. I read so many blogs that show what is first. One day they will be fallen because it is obvious where their trust relies.

There are so many warnings. Here are just a few:

  • Rev. 18:4 …Come out from her (Babylon) my people, so that you will not share in her plagues.
  • Rev. 6:17 For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand before it?
  • 2 Peter 3:14 So beloved, since you are expecting these things, be eager to be found by Him without spot or blemish, and at peace – in serene confidence, free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts.

Are you ready?
