JOSHUA 6
5. And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout: and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him. KJV
This is a physical battle that Israel went through when they were entering the Promise Land for the first time. They were commanded by the Lord to encompass the city of Jericho for 6 days and make no sound. But on the 7th day they were to encompass the city 7 times and then the priests were to blow the trumpets. When the people heard the blast of the trumpets they were to give a great shout.
Then the walls of the city fell, and they went up. What does this mean spiritually for the last days?
Phil Driscoll has a teaching about Praise and Worship like no other I have heard. It is a powerfully anointed message for the Church to pay attention to. He talks about sound. He says we all have a sound. The atmosphere is filled with demonic forces. Satan is Prince of the Air. We must enter His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and into His courts with Praise. Praise has a sound. Victory has a sound. Defeat has no sound. The dead have no sound.
When David played his harp before Saul the demons left. When we give forth the shout of praise demons flee. If we are silent, they stay. We are to fill our atmosphere with Praise because the Lord inhabits the Praises of His people. Where the Lord is there is victory and walls fall down and souls are saved and we go up to the Lord’s house where we are safe, the Promise Land.
The songs we sing are very important. The music today is more inspirational songs than praise and worship songs. The inspirational songs speak about man and his problems and blessings. But the focus is usually on man. Praise songs are fast and exciting and lead you to give forth shouts of praise. They lead you into God’s house. Then the worship songs come at the end. These are the special love songs to the Lord. We tell the Lord how much we love Him and how wonderful He is. That is worship. The Lord is seeking the right sounds in us.
Our Pastor has many times before the worship is over tells the church to praise as loud as they can. He is filling the atmosphere with praise that anoints the rest of the service. Walls fall down and we go up!
