“GOD’S LOVE IN US” BIBLE STUDY APRIL 10, 2024

1 CORINTHIANS 13

1. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tingling cymbal.
2. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

We all have love inside of us. And normally we go about life thinking we are kind and good. But then we read I Corinthians 13 and see how God loves. And we see how far we fall short of how He loves. So, what do we do? How can we go about our day and not be a tingling cymbal, the Amplified says a useless nobody?

1 Corinthians 13:4 Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy; is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.

5. It is not conceited – arrogant and inflated with pride; it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or (its own way), for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it- pays no attention to a suffered wrong. Amp.

When we read the depth of Christ’s love for His Church, we can see what He wants from us and how far we are from His goal for us. The only way that we can love like He does is to be loved by Him. As He dwells with us, we are filled with His ways.

His love never fails or comes to an end. How wonderful is that. We can rest knowing that He will always love us and be with us. He will go about our day shutting all the wrong doors and opening all the right ones.

This should fill our heart with enough faith to get through the last days and in between. He will make all things work for our good. I knocked a small vase over that had an old dried-up sunflower in it that I had kept. I kept it because it was the only one, I had to come up out of 4 seeds. So, I thought all things work for good.

When I came back to clean it up, I noticed there were sunflower seeds all over the floor. The little vase will be easy to glue back together. Now I have so many seeds to plant that I did not have. He did that for no other reason but love. It was important to me. There are lessons to learn everywhere. We just have to keep our eyes and ears open.

If God dwells in our hearts, then love dwells in our hearts. He will teach us how to love like He does. He is patient and kind to us and is never touchy or resentful with us when we would be. He is so good, and we will be like Him. That is His will for us, and He does not fail. We will not be a useless nobody because of Him.
