MATTHEW 12.
30. He who is not with Me (definitely on My side), is against Me, and he who does not (definitely) gather with Me and for Me scatters.
31. Therefore, I tell you, every sin and blasphemy – that is, every evil, abusive, injurious speaking or indignity against sacred things – can be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Holy Spirit shall not and cannot be forgiven.
Jesus is talking to the Pharisees who just accused Him of casting out demons with the help of Beelzebub or Satan. He was casting out demons with the help of the Holy Spirit. So, He is telling us that if a true work of God has been performed with the help of the Holy Spirit and someone says it was the devil, they will not be forgiven. That is blasphemy.
Then He goes onto call them an evil and adulterous generation that is morally unfaithful to God. He goes onto rebuke them saying when the Queen of Sheba was here and was overwhelmed by Solomon and all he had acquired that there was something greater in their midst that they were missing. They were asking for a sign, and He would not give them one except the sign of the prophet Jonah which was Jesus rising from the dead in 3 days.
But He added that when a demon or unclean spirit leaves a man, he roams about looking for another home or rest but when he cannot find one, he goes back to his last home and finds it empty or unoccupied, meaning it has not been filled with the presence of God. He then is allowed to bring 7 more demons into the house and the man’s condition is worse that it was before.
Why is He saying all of this. He is making a statement by tying it all together at the end. Seven is God’s number and He is bringing this judgement. It begins by the word blaspheme. In the last days Satan or the serpent in Revelation 12 and 13 has 7 heads with 7 crowns and 10 horns. Upon each head is the name of “Blasphemy.” Jesus just explained blaspheme. This Beast gets all his power from Satan. They are all evil spirits that rule the world spiritually.
Satan is giving power over to an evil spirit that has 7 heads or rulers with the name or character of Blaspheme. I have heard many interpretations of the Beast. It seems men like to make the last days full of theatrics when it is simple. This is God’s judgment on a backslidden church who have walked with the world and not spent time with Him. Seven more will come back but they will be meaner than any other. They will Blaspheme God and His abode or His true Church.
When He returns will He find an immorally unfaithful generation or Church who is unfaithful to God? How do you think He will judge them? How did He judge the Pharisees? This evil spirit will be the product of the backslidden Church.
True repentance is a turning away from your sin and not repeating it. It is not sin – confess, sin – confess, sin – confess.
It is time to repent.
