REVELATION 9:4
4. They were told not to injure the herbage of the earth nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only to attack such human beings as do not have the seal (mark) of God on their foreheads. Amp.
This is the 5th trumpet. The angel has just sounded and saw a star fall to the earth. It created a chasm that led to the abyss or the bottomless pit where the atmosphere was darkened by the smoke.
Out of the smoke came locusts with power to hurt mankind. They are able to torment them for 5 months with terrible pain where men will yearn to die but won’t be allowed. This is a terrible thing, but the Lord again sends protection to His people who put their trust in Him.
DEFINITIONS
Green -c) Verdant
Verdant -d) Covered with green vegetation.
Flourish – d) to grow vigorously, succeed.
The definition of green is verdant meaning a healthy plant. In the Bible many times men are compared to trees. Their roots grow in the dark where no one sees but God. They grow very slow. They have fruit whether good or bad.
Jeremiah 17:7 Most blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.
8. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river, and shall not see and fear when heat comes, but his leaf shall be green, he shall not be anxious and careful in the year of drought, nor shall he cease from yielding fruit. Amp.
The only way we can learn not to be fearful and anxious is by enduring the trials we are sent. That is where we are tested and proven to the point where we learn. He alone makes us strong and able to succeed.
Psalm 92:13 Planted in the house of the Lord; they shall flourish in the courts of our God.
We see that when we are in the house of the Lord we flourish in His court. That is in His presence. That is where we must learn to dwell. This is a place of great growth and safety. We all need to be a healthy green tree so we will succeed.
As I read the opening of this post, my spirit caught the reference to the green thing, alive as trees are alive. as I continued to read your post I could see where you were going with it.
We know that scripture will give us illustrations that are meant to be heard by those with ears to hear, and to see by those with eyes to see.
It was a confirmation to me that was in line with truth.
