PSALM 150

  1. Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in His sanctuary: praise Him in the firmament of His power.
  2. Praise Him for His mighty acts: praise Him according to His excellent greatness.
  3. Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: praise Him with the psaltery and harp.
  4. Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him with stringed instruments and organs.
  5. Praise Him upon the loud cymbals: praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals.
  6. Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

Let’s continue our discussion about praise and worship. Psalm 150 is such a beautiful picture of what the Lord desires from us. The first 5 verses begin with the word “Praise.” And all 6 have “Praise” in each one at least twice and verse 1 has it 3 times. That is a total of 13 times in just 6 verses. He wants us to Praise Him. This is clear. Now it tells us how to do it.

First, He wants us to come where He is, in His sanctuary or His house. He wants us to be in the realm of His power where no foe can affect us. That is what Phil Driscoll’s message said in Selah 1. We are free from the powers of darkness and our circumstances. That means all pain has to bow down to Him. If we are in pain or sick, we are to keep singing until we are healed.

How many stay at home from church because they are in pain or sick? The Lord is telling us if we come into His house where we belong, we won’t feel pain. We are to come into His presence with Thanksgiving in our hearts and into His courts with Praise. That is also a key to entering His presence. We must start out being thankful and begin with songs of joyful happy praise. He is great and greatly to be praised. We must show the world what it means to greatly praise Him.

My Spiritual daughter Cheryl has had many physical ailments in the past. She lives an hour’s drive from church. Satan would start working on her in the morning to cause enough pain to get her to stay home and it worked for a while. I told her if you just keep coming, the Lord will heal you. He has done it before. There were times her ankles were so swollen she could hardly walk. But she limped in church and danced before the Lord anyway and she walked out with no pain. Now she knows how to ignore any symptoms she might feel before church.

There is power in His sanctuary. We must learn to come into His house. We must get our minds on Him and off of anything that would try to invade our thoughts. The more I focus on Him, the clearer He becomes and the more of His presence I feel. It is so perfectly wonderful. There are no words. He is showing us directions to His house. We are to think of all the great things He has done for us and His mighty greatness.

Then He tells us to praise Him with the instruments. The first one He mentions is the trumpet. There is a reason why He put the trumpet first. I love the trumpet sounds of Phil Driscoll. That is the most anointed of any music I have experienced. I actually have bought a trumpet. I have had it for about a month and have come to the conclusion that it is probably the most difficult of any instrument to play. But I am learning. It is a miracle I can make any sound at all. But it is so much fun. It makes me so happy and I laugh so hard after I play it. It is the realm of absolute miracles.

I actually have bought a guitar and a very small almost toy keyboard, thinking they could help me get my trumpet in tune. But actually, after seeing how difficult the trumpet is, they do not seem near as difficult to me to play. We will see. I know the Lord is with me and nothing is too difficult for Him. I sure hope He lets me bypass the drums and cymbals!

We all have the ability to move our feet and use a tambourine. How many people dance for the devil every day? Why should we not dance for the Lord when He tells us to in Psalm 150. He told me a long time ago not to care what others think but to do it for Him. I have been so blessed not just spiritually but physically. It is a big part of my day and keeps my legs from getting stiff and sore. I can tell so many miracles He has done for me because of Praise and Worship.

The biggest blessing is that it draws us closer to Him. And being with Him is what we were created for. No better place to be than with Jesus! So, what is the final Word?

LET EVERYTHING THAT HATH BREATH PRAISE THE LORD!
