PSALM 24
- The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness of it, the world and they who dwell in it. Amp.
What if you went up to a very worldly person and told them they belonged to the Lord? I am sure that they would not agree with you. They see no evidence in their life of that fact. But what does it actually mean?
I believe the Lord has a plan for every person. But He gives them self-will. He will not force His way into their life unless there has been much prayer for them or if they have an exceedingly important call upon their life maybe because of their forefathers.
He owns it all. It belongs to Him. So, He can do with it what He wants. What has He showed us that He wants?
Matthew 28:18 Jesus approached and breaking the silence said to them, “All authority – all power of rule – in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.
19. Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit;
20. Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you all the days, – perpetually, uniformly and on every occasion – to the very close and consummation of the age. Amen – so let it be. Amp.
He came to the earth that belonged to Him and lived with 12 men for 3 years teaching them the right way to live. Then He suffered the cruelest form of death to pay for the sins of us all. He came to show His love for us all so we would want to know Him and learn His ways so we could be with Him.
He tells the twelve men to go and tell more about how to live the right way and be with Him, His Father and Holy Spirit. He did everything possible to draw us out of our self-will to be with Him forever in this world and the one to come that belongs to Him.
This shows us His character. He is so loving and gentle. He is not coercive. He is humble and meek and does not talk of His own greatness. He condescends. He steps down of off His throne and enters His own world in the humblest of ways. He became just like you and me because He loves you and me. He is not impatient but takes all the time needed to do it the right way. He was rejected by the very most to save the very few.
What if this world and all that was in it belonged to you? Would you have done what He did to save mankind?
