PSALM 63
5. My whole being shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.
DEFINITIONS
Satisfied -c) to sate; fill to satisfaction; have enough; to be full; have plenty of.
Glory -c) abundance.
Fatness -c) abundance, ashes of sacrifice.
Marrow -c) the choice part; the best; finest.
David is telling us that it is possible to be filled with the Lord to fullness as it says in Ephesians 3:19. He has earnestly sought the Lord with a deep inner thirst that longed faintingly for the Lord.
When he did, he found Him. He saw Him in the sanctuary. He saw His Power and His glory. He was encompassed with His loving-kindness, and he is left knowing it is better than life. This is where overcoming strength comes from. There is nothing better than the Presence of the Lord. When it is better than life, you do not value this life anymore. You value Him letting go of the fleshpots of this world. That is when the Lord gives you all things, because they have no value anymore. There is no place you would rather be than with Him.
He has experienced the best or “marrow” and “fatness” verse 5. He meditates on Him in the night. He wants the best because that is the only thing that satisfies. And because David sought Him earnestly, the Lord became his help.
Now David knows he dwells under the shadow of His wings, (vs. 7). And that is a safe place. He rejoices. His whole being follows hard after the Lord. There is nothing else David wants at this time. He is full and satisfied beyond all measure. David trusts in, adheres to and relies on the Lord. And the Lord holds onto him.
At the same time David gets victory over his enemies. They will be given over to the power of the sword. It is not smart to speak against those who seek the Lord earnestly.āThe lies will be stopped. But David shall rejoice and glory in the Lord.
